A Lifeline for Our Rohingya Community: The Mayyu Blood Donation Society (MBDS)
• Who We Are
The Mayyu Blood Donation Society (MBDS) is more than just an organization-it is a movement fueled by compassion, selflessness, and a commitment to saving lives. We believe that no one should lose their life due to a lack of blood. Our mission is simple yet profound: to connect voluntary blood donors with those in urgent need, ensuring a steady and reliable supply of life-saving blood for our community.
Every day, countless individuals-children, mothers, accident victims, and patients battling severe illnesses-rely on blood transfusions to survive. Yet, many struggle to find donors in times of crisis. That is where MBDS steps in. We bridge this gap, offering hope where it is needed most.
Our Vision: A Community That Cares:
Imagine a world where no one has to endure the pain of losing a loved one simply because blood was unavailable. That is the future we strive for. We aspire to cultivate a culture of regular blood donation, where generosity becomes second nature and saving lives is a shared responsibility.
• how we can make a difference:
1. Organizing Blood Donation Drives;
We regularly host blood donation camps in collaboration with hospitals and blood banks. These events provide a safe and convenient way for donors to contribute, ensuring that hospitals always have an adequate supply for emergencies.
2. Conducting Blood Group Screening & Awareness Campaigns;
Many people are unaware of their blood type, which can be crucial in an emergency. Our screening campaigns help individuals identify their blood group, while our awareness initiatives educate the public about the myths and facts surrounding blood donation.
3. Facilitating Urgent Blood Requests;
When a patient needs blood urgently, every second counts. Our team works tirelessly to connect those in need with compatible donors as quickly as possible, providing a lifeline in critical situations.
4. Building a Strong, Supportive Community;
We believe that real change happens when people come together. Our network of volunteers, healthcare professionals, and dedicated donors form a strong support system, ensuring that anyone who needs blood can receive it without unnecessary delays.
•Why Blood Donation Matters;
Blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous donors. A single donation has the potential to save up to three lives. Yet, many people hesitate due to misinformation or fear. Let’s dispel some common concerns:
• Is blood donation painful?
No, the process is simple, quick, and relatively painless.
• Does donating blood weaken the body?
Not at all! The body replenishes the donated blood within a few weeks.
• Is it time-consuming?
The entire process, from registration to donation, usually takes less than an hour.
• Can I donate blood regularly?
Yes! A healthy adult can donate every three to four months.
•How You Can Be a Hero;
1. Donate Blood Regularly
Every drop matters. By making blood donation a habit, you ensure that hospitals are always prepared for emergencies.
2. Spread the Word;
Many people hesitate to donate simply because they are unaware of its importance. Share information with your friends, family, and social circles to encourage more donors to step forward.
3. Volunteer With Us;
We are always looking for passionate individuals to help organize blood drives, run awareness campaigns, and assist in connecting donors with patients. Your time and effort can make an enormous impact.
4. Support Our Mission;
Running blood donation drives, maintaining a donor database, and responding to urgent blood requests require resources. Donations to MBDS help us expand our reach and improve our operations, ensuring that more lives are saved.

A Beacon of Hope: MBDS Team's Blood Grouping Campaign in Jamtoli Camp-15
On December 6, 2024, the Mayyu Blood Donation Society (MBDS Team) illuminated the lives of over 50 community members in Jamtoli Camp-15.
By organizing three successful blood grouping test campaigns, the MBDS Team took a significant step towards fostering a healthier and more compassionate society.
This initiative not only provided valuable insights into individual blood types but also heightened awareness about the critical role of blood donation.
By empowering community members with knowledge, the MBDS Team inspired them to become active participants in saving lives.
This commendable effort is a testament to the dedication and compassion of the MBDS Team.
Their unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes continues to make a profound impact on the Rohingya community.

On November 23, 2024, The Mayyu Blood Donation Society Team organized a successful blood grouping campaign at Mayyu High School, where over 50 individuals had their blood groups checked.

Dear Mr. Sana Ullah,
We extend our sincere gratitude for your selfless act of donating blood for the fourth time. Your contribution has directly aided in saving lives and providing renewed hope to those in need.
Each donation represents a profound commitment to the well-being of others, and you are truly a blessing to those whose lives you have touched.
Blood donation is a voluntary act that allows individuals to contribute to the preservation of life. By donating blood, you are not only assisting individuals in critical need of transfusions, but also supporting families and communities.
Your generosity resonates deeply, especially within vulnerable populations such as the Rohingya community, where access to medical resources can be limited.
Beyond the immediate impact of saving lives, regular blood donation offers potential health benefits to the donor, including the stimulation of new blood cell generation. However, the primary motivation for blood donation remains the altruistic desire to save lives, a practice that is both ethically and legally sound.
Your four donations have made a significant difference.
We believe that your example serves as an inspiration to other Rohingya youth to consider donating blood. Saving a life has a ripple effect, impacting not only the individual but also their family and community.
